Be a Safe Driver

Vehicular accidents are one of the leading causes of death and injury, so it pays to be safe. Here are some safety tips that are basic to the prevention of car accidents:
  • Stay Alert. Taking your eyes off the road is the biggest no-no. That means when you’re driving you should be: fully awake, sober, eyes focused on the road and not on your mobile phone or other distractions.
  • Fasten your seatbelt. The first thing you should do before accelerating is to make sure your seat belt is fastened – whether you’re just driving around the neighborhood, or on the highway.
  • Fight the need for speed. Plan your trip so that you’re not rushing to get to your destination. Fatal accidents have almost always involved cars going at high speed.
  • Maintain your car. Check your tire pressure regularly. Have the basic tools in your car in case of emergency. Have your oil changed and car tuned up regularly.
